The Baby Powder Mess
“What’s that smell?” Our 9-year-old daughter asked.
“I don’t smell anything,” I replied.
“It smells like lotion,” she said.
“Lotion?!” I thought.
She walked down the hall and said slowly, “Oh…no! Mom, I think the boys got into the baby powder.”
As I walked down the hall towards the giggles in the boys’ room, I saw the trail of baby powder. My daughter opened the door and a puff of powder greeted her. She dropped her jaw as she simultaneously coughed.
I looked into the room and saw 4-year-old jump from the bed onto the bean bag as he squealed with joy at the magical puff of powder that flew into the air. In order to prevent the boys from seeing the hilarity of the situation, I immediately about-faced to find a room to giggle for a few minutes. I came back to take a couple pictures for memory’s sake and scolded them gently.
It was a very good day.
